Wolf's Blood - The Witch Hunter tales
Harold Eastman is a witch-hunter, hired by the church to seek out practitioners of the devil. But like those he hunts, Harold has a secret he’s desperate to hide. Tasked with finding the cause behind a boy’s bewitched genitals, Harold is lured to a quiet Hertfordshire village. The tensions increase as Harold and his companions discover that mischief is afoot, and the tales of witchcraft and devilry might not be rumours after all…Wolf’s Blood is the first of E.L.Johnson’s Witch Hunter Tales, which can be enjoyed as standalones or as a sequence in the stories of the witch-hunter Harold Eastman.
Reviews of Wolf's Blood:

"During the past month I've purchased a Preston & Child, Cussler, and Baldacci - and all three books are still sitting half read on my coffee table. Wolf's Blood is different. Set in the early 1300s in the English countryside, the reader is quickly drawn into this medieval tale of a witch hunter, his monk companion and a strange adventure. An interesting blend of historical fiction with fantasy, I found this a quick read and an enjoyable escape on a rainy afternoon. Looking forward to Book II in the series." - Amazon.com

"Witchcraft and wolves, set in a real and gritty historical period. Sort of Cadfael meets Buffy. Plus a hero with a troubled past and a Saracen sword. It all adds up to a very enjoyable read." -Amazon.co.uk

"
I really enjoyed this book and would love to read more about Harold. It was interesting and suspenseful and trying to work out who was the witch, was a good mystery because there were just so many people it could have been." -Netgalley member review

"Harold is a witch-hunter, who is requested to go to a neighboring town to help fight witchcraft. He is sent with a cranky monk, and a young man Simon, who is leading them to his village. A good story overall, and reminds me in a way of Nicolas Gage's movie "Season of the Witch". Set during the same time frame, with the same superstitions.

Overall, I enjoyed the story, although some of the side stories, for example the girls' in the village, seemed more distracting than useful. I did figure out who was the witch fairly early, but it didn't stop me from reading to find out how it ends. Interesting start to a new series, and look forward to reading the next one." -Netgalley member review
